The photo series "Open Windows" refer to a work by Sophie Calle. In "L'Hotel" (1981) she works as a chambermaid in a hotel to spy on the hotel guests. She took pictures of the rumpled or even untouched beds, the bathrooms, objects lying around, the inside of suitcases, etc.
"Open Windows" consists of a collection of photos that come from the platform "willhaben". They show mirrors that various users offer for sale. These often give an unintended insight to the lives of the sellers. From the voyeuristic perspective of the mirror, everything seems a lot less staged than what we' re used to seeing on Instagram and other social media sites.
