CAPSULE

“Ritual is another word that needs a new definition. Ritual, as I use the term, refers to an artistic process by which people gather and unify themselves in order to confront the challenges of their
existence.” (Anna Halprin)

The textile work "Capsule" documents the empty space around objects or bodies, their inverted form. The figure is in a crouched sitting position, similar to the posture of boxers, waiting for the next round in the corner of the fighting ring. The actual body is not present, but it is outlined by a white terrycloth bathrobe, which has been strengthened with epoxy resin. The materiality and posture create a narrativ in itself. Looking at the hollow white shell various associations arise that oscillate between themes such as wellness, fight and transcendence.
